Fox Hollow Farms, located in Issaquah, was recently selling vouchers on many of the deal sites. We purchased a voucher, and made a trip out there about a week ago. Fox Hollow Farm is fantastic for young kids (pre-schoolers and toddlers). It looks like it would be fun in the summer, but made a great fall outing too!

Its located right off of Issaquah Hobart road, and if you want to make a day out of the trip there is also a Pumpkin Patch called Trinity Tree Farms Pumpkin Patch that is located about 5 minutes away.  We visited both, but on seperate days. They would make a great all day outing  by doing both trips together (and you can skip paying for the bouncy houses at the Pumpkin Patch, since they are included with entrance at Fox Hollow Family Farm.

This trip is best made during the week. Fox Hollow Farm is opened for very limited hours on the weekends, and it gets crowded. We went mid week, and the kids were able to enjoy everything the farm had to offer without long waits.  It can be difficult to see off the road, so pay attention, and parking can get crowded if you go during a busier time. Hours vary, so be sure to check their events calendar to confirm when they are open. Generally speaking they are open full days during the week and for morning hours during the weekend. Their is a Halloween Spooktacular event this coming weekend, and they will be open extended hours for that.

Cost of admission is: $8 per person at the door, children under 1 are free (keep your eye out of deal sites, admission vouchers have recently been available on Living Social, Groupon and Mamapedia).

The scenery at the farm is beautiful, and on a crisp fall day you feel like you took a trip out to the country. The size of the farm is not so big that your exhausted at the end of your trip, but there is plenty to keep young kids entertained (not sure my teen would have had as much fun, but my two youngest thought it was paradise).

Some of the attractions offered include:

Hay Bale Maze & Rope Swings –

This was up in a barn loft, and they have cats roaming all through, as well as a bird exhibit. The birds started talking to us as we entered the loft, and the cats were very cuddly.  My girls loved the rope swing, and mom even got in on the action (tried to get a picture for proof, but I was swinging so fast it was just one big blurr :-) , the picture above is one of my little ones. We were taking photos on a camera, and just could not get the action shot without a blur).

Animal Interactions/Petting Zoo –

Their were chickens, roosters and turkeys just roaming around the grass. They had parrots and peacocks too. There were pigs to see, horses and miniture ponies, and cats to play with. We also saw bunnies .

Miniature Tractors and other vehicles  -

These were a favorite with my kids, and seem to be with other kids as well.  They have little John Deere tractors the kids can drive in, and these kid roller coasters that my kids loved (just look at their faces above, and I think its enough said).

Pumpkins –

Pumpkins are placed throughout, and give the farm a very festive fall feel.  You can purchase pumpkins if you want. They were building what looked like a Jack O Lantern walk while we were there, but it was not completed yet.

Inflatables (weather-dependent) –

There was one inflatable available while we were there, and it had a bounce house area and slide. You will need to watch your little ones carefully on this one though, as the whole front of the house was open and its placed on a basketball court. My kids had fun, but I stood right in front of the opening as my 3 year old would likely have done a face plant on the basketball court if I had not.  My kids had fun in the bouncy house though.

Creek Area (Salmon Running Now) –

Behind the house, there is a beautiful creek area you can take the kids down to play at. Per the Fox Hollow website, it sounds like salmon are running right now, which would be great to see!

Concessions –

You could feed the family hot dogs and warm beverages for just a few dollars per person at the Concession stand.
Pony Rides & Train Rides ($2 extra)* -

They offer pony rides and train rides at limited times and for an additional cost. We did not see the train while we were there, and also did not pay the extra for the train ride.

Garden area -

There was a garden area with kid size tools available for them to play around with. There is also some seating for parents if you want to relax for a minute.

All in all, we had a great day. My family plans to head back to Trinity Tree Farms for our Christmas tree and Santa photo this year, and if the weather permits we will definitely consider a second visit to Follow Hollow Family Farm.  Have you been before?  What was your experience?
