Welcome to Centsible In Seattle. I am Sia Hills and I started this site when I began to coupon a few years back. It was unbelievable to me the things I was able to get for free and I wanted to share with others. I did not learn to coupon from my mother or grandma, I just stumbled upon it when my family hit some very tough financial times (you can read more about how we almost lost our house here).
I have couponed through different life experiences (being a stay at home mom, and working full time outside the home / when I had almost no grocery shopping budget and when I have had money to spare). My couponing experience has evolved as I have had different roles and resources. My hope is to provide well rounded money saving tips and opportunities that may be useful to all. Visitors to Centsible In Seattle should find everything from entertainment deals to spend quality time with your family, to money saving grocery tips and coupon match ups (you can read about my families testimony here and why I love every minute I get to spend with them now. I take advantage of many of the same deals I post here for the rest of you).
I am not an ‘Extreme Couponer’. I enjoy the show, and I do make an ‘Extreme Coupon’ shopping trip from time to time as well. In general I find there are great opportunities to save in every area of your budget, and it does not have to eat up a large portion of your precious time to take advantage of these opportunities. That is the focus of Centsible In Seattle, money saving opportunities for all – that do not require a huge time trade off.
Another passion that I have is saving more so we are able to give more. You can read an article I wrote for Money Saving Mom titled 5 Ways To Give On A Budget. My focus moving forward is to provide readers with monthly opportunities on how you can “Purchase With A Purpose’ and use your purchasing dollars to also help others! Tips to help you save and tips to help you give if you choose, thats my goal.
Just to get you excited I will post a few pictures of my families recent trip to Sun Rivers below – a ‘free’ vacation. We pulled out all the money saving tips for this trip (cheap eats, cheap entertainment and more). Those are the kinds of deals I will post for you all (how to get hotel deals, clothing deals, dining, entertainment and grocery deals too)!
